Penetron at the Rio Olympics 2016
Penetron Supports the Rio Olympics
Penetron technology proudly stands behind the decade-long construction effort of the 37 venues, and surrounding infrastructure, for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which kicked off on Friday the 5th of August.
With an expected turnout of half a million tourists, adjustments and restructuring had to be made to Rio’s Public Infrastructure and Culture and Hospitality locations.
Penetron’s crystalline waterproofing technology got its chance to shine in projects such as the Olympic Village, but most especially in the Olympic Aquatic Park and restructuring of many other seaside locations in preparation for this momentous event.

Teraco Data Centre
South Africa has announced that it had begun the construction of what will be the largest data centre in Africa to be housed in a 17 500sqm building. The construction work is being spearheaded by Teraco a South African company that already owns data centres in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg.
We, as Penetron SA, are proud to say that we are part of this amazing project. Penetron Admix and Penebar SW55 are being used in all the exposed slabs and roof slabs. Penebar SW55 is being used to waterproof the construction joints along the retaining walls as well.
We looking forward to seeing the end result towards the end of 2016.

University of Johannesburg
On the 28th of August 2015, 35 excited UJ Civil students departed for China.
Their 9 day excursion in this exciting city consisted of a packed schedule, touring between Shanghai and Nanjing. Visiting some of the greatest engineering sites this city held true.
Sites visited were:
• Zen Dai Construction Site
• Sun Yat – Sen Mausoleum
• Nanjing Museum
• Yue Jiang Tower
• The Presidential Palace
• Xuanwu Lake
• Confucius Temple
• Qinhuaj River
• Shanghai World Financial Centre

On their return from tour, we at Penetron South Africa had great feedback and were only happy to hear how much the students enjoyed themselves. Experiencing the amazing culture and people of China.
Penetron SA sponsored the tour by contributing an amount of R60 000,00. Resembling our 60 years of service life the Penetron Admix product adds to a concrete structures’ life span.
We also provided them with some bright and branded safety vests to keep them safe and noticed on their travels through China.
Penetron South Africa was proud and honored to be a sponsor for this amazing educational tour and experience. We truly hope to be a part of their next tour as we see it important for young engineers in South Africa to experience different views and sites in the Construction Industry.
